Viktor Grünwald is Professor of Interdisciplinary Genitourinary (GU) Oncology at the University Hospital Essen, Essen, Germany, where he specialises in Medical Oncology. He directs the section for conservative treatments in GU cancers, which is a cross-sectional initiative between the clinics of Medical Oncology and Urology. His core research interests are GU cancers, with an emphasis on academic drug development and translational research of immunotherapies in this area. Additional areas of expertise include soft tissue sarcomas and head and neck cancers.
Professor Grünwald graduated from Medical School, Hannover, Germany in 1998, after which he was appointed as a Private Lecturer and subsequently Professor of Haematology and Oncology at the same institution. Professor Grünwald has served as a member of the scientific committee for a number of symposia and congresses and has chaired different working groups in academic organisations.
