Benjamin Mercier recently graduated summa cum laude from University of California, San Diego in June of 2021. He received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology and joined Dr. Sumanta Pal's research team in the Department of Medical Oncology & Experimental Therapeuitics at City of Hope in early 2022, where his current areas of research include the assessment and improvement of patient quality of life and quality of care. In addition, he also works alongside Dr. Yun Rose Li and the Department of Radiation Oncology at City of Hope, assisting in investigating the role of inflammation and oxidatve stress in cancer initiation, progression, and treatment as well as fasting and the metabolic modulation of radiation response. He plans on applying to and eventually attending medical school within the next two years.
